Lots of news mixed in with a bit of commentary.

Your Club prefers not to flood the membership with too many flashes but we are in the middle of season. Many restaurants, businesses and individual members need help spreading the word. The flashes these days are a bit more frequent.

Here's a chunk of feedback recently posted here on Your Club's website, in the "Comment Section." It's the type of feedback that makes our job a pleasure. "Lou, thanks so much. I bought my VIP card and went to the Qualitas office where they wrote me an auto policy that was *way* cheaper than what ING was proposing! I mentioned you and the club and it was gold! I'm very pleased with them. And you!" Thanks again, Libby (Enough said)

Your VIP Club welcomes De la Tienda Gaia, Callejon del Pueblito #3, open Tuesday through Friday, Noon - 3 pm., Saturday and Sunday 10 - 3 pm. Gaia sells artistic jewelry and many other artistic items with many produced by shop owner, Magali Angulo.

If you haven't renewed your VIP Club Card in some time, or perhaps a member and this flash has been forwarded to you, know that until March 15, if you purchase a VIP Club Card at the local library's "tienda" Your Club will pay for your new library card, an 80-peso value! The Club will also make an additional donation to the library.

Some news: Anders Litzen, who has partnered with his wife Kajsa, both instrumental putting Los Senderos Bistro on the map has now taken on additional managing responsibilities. Anders is now at the helm of VIP Club participating restaurants, Cumpanio and Dos Casas. Look for big things soon. Anders and Kajsa are still at the reins managing Los Senderos Bistro. Also, on Friday, March 8, at Anders' Los Senderos location he's presenting a wine tasting and BBQ, with Jay Dworsky and wife Trisha, visiting fSMA rom their noted Baja based winery, Bodegas Marilena. Cost $395 pesos, yet Los Senderos has been gracious enough to generously offer the standard 10% off with the VIP Club discount being in vogue for this event.

The dude, Delaney is a California based kinesthesiologist, sound and light therapist, biofeedback practitioner and a certified coach and teacher of coaches! Delaney addresses emotional competency, relationship stress, anxiety and post traumatic stress syndrome!

The same day, Tuesday, February 26, VIP Club member Mary Jane Miller wants members to know about "The Creative Journey" hosted at Santa Ana Theater at 6 pm. with Agnes Olive, Mary Jane Miller and Kelly Vandiver, each speaking about past works as artists, included in the theme, their search for the Divine. Iconography and Scared Birds, 150 images. All proceeds go to scholarships at Bilioteca and SPA animal rescue. All are welcomed. (Before some of our eagle eyed readers write in questioning about the term, "Scared Birds" we suspect it might be "Sacred Birds" but that's exactly as it was sent to us! There's no info about an entrance fee. In our last flash, I wrote the word "granite" when I should have typed "granted." I received some hopefully good-natured ribbing about my error. My sincerest apologies to the word "Granted!")

VIP Club member David Bossman wants to reminds members that also on Tuesday, February 26, there's a full moon concert and benefit at El Sindicato, Recreo #4, beginning at 8 pm., featuring the incomparable, songbird Maria, with friends. Tickets are 80 pesos in advance and 100 pesos at the door. The benefit's funds sustains the awareness for the continued protection of the historical aspects of San Miguel.

Perhaps a new meaning to getting nailed? Members might not know but VIP Club participating business "The Nail Lounge" offers a free happy hour to patrons each Wednesday! You betcha!" 4 -7 pm.

Also, kudos go out to amigo and jefe Mr. Salvatore Orosco and his VIP Club participating restaurant Casa de los Milagros! Why not show up and give Donnie an Uncle Louie bear hug?

Ho! That Keith Thompson at Longhorn is busy, busy busy. Longhorn hosts charitable bingo Tuesday evenings. Each Wednesday, starting a 7:30, Longhorn Smokehouse BBQ provides live music! Each day at Longhorn there's a break-the-mouth food special (sorry to say daily food specials are not discounted) but nevertheless they're hardy and reeeel gooooodddddd! Look for some big news in the near future about Longhorn II!

Famed local guitarist Gil Gutterez, who accompanies the renowned Doc Severinsen on tour, including Gil's accomplished ensemble perform each Wednesday and Friday at Instituto Allende's Mi Casa's restaurant at 7:30 pm. There is a well-worth it 120 peso cover! Yet VIP Club members and their party (up to 4 people) receive 15% off when paying cash and 10% off when employing a credit card. Mi Casa features time-honored Mexican recipes and one sensational view!

Looking for something a little different or zany? Think about attending VC and Friends, Wednesday nights! In between music sets be thrilled by "The Breakaways," them performing between 9 and 10 pm, with break-neck, break-dance routines! Carumba! Word is these "pass the hat around" kids are spectacular!

Congrats to VIP Club participating restaurant Mezzanine on receiving a glorious restaurant review stemming from this Don Day guy who visits each winter.  The author of the review refers to Day constantly in the "third person." Whoever the author is, Day or someone else, pens an article rating the food and service. Day's critiques at times can be brutal yet in this case we're glad to say the opposite. We don't know if Day is an extension of a major publication or a lone-ranger with epicurean taste and mannerisms and we do consider, reviews are subjective, but if the foodie, self-anoited-or-not, writs something nice about one of our participating restaurants, let the shouting begin!

Saturday, March 2, a Blues Festival fund raiser for the benefit of Casita Linda, a grass-roots organization that builds modest homes for the impoverished. Gates open at 11:30 am. The concert is slated to go on 'til at least 6 pm. Eight heavy-weight artists will dole out enough gut-wrenching "blues" to have all crying in their beers! Special shuttles will depart Fabrica Aurora for 50 peso round trips. For complete info see: Charter VIP Club member Jeffrey Brown, nor longer at the helm of Casita Linda but we'd be remiss not mentioning Jeffrey's unselfish vision. Without Jeffrey Brown;s initial call to action, way back, there may not be a Casita Linda today. Here's to you Jeffrey!

Looking ahead: VIP Club member, artist, Marcia Dworkin will be featuring her new works on paper, a departure from Dworkin's huge canvases. The showing will take place Sunday, March 3,  2 - 5 pm. at her studio, El Pial 21, Col. Mexquito.

Your Club received greetings from former part-time resident John Peterson. Peterson is the focus of sparkling documentary "The Real Dirt on Farmer John," that was warmly received here in San Miguel some years back. John says he has married and likes keeping up with SMA goings on by reading VIP Club Newsflashes from where ever he is on Earth.

Congrats to VIP Club member Javier Mojarro who has been elected as President of the San Miguel Architect Association!

Once again the "March Madness" NCAA basketball tournament is on the close horizon. We have a fellowship here in San Miguel made up of men and women who enjoy this tournament and play in our pool. We coin it the "George Davis Memorial March Madness Pool." Anyone interested should write back to me and I will tell you how to get in on the action.

Many of you know about the tragic murder of VIP Club member Joyous Heart. We received inquiries from a slew of past and present members most presently not in SMA., those who read Joyous'' R.I.P. They mostly asked, "What happened?" Just an update: The alleged and accused is Joyous' adopted 18 - 19 year old daughter! She's been apprehended. Word is she is mentally disturbed. This crime seems to have been a family argument gone awry.

Not to elaborate on the negative but we urge all members, prior to any considered medical procedure, to perhaps get a second opinion and to closely scrutinize all options!

Thank you for your continuous and loyal support.
