Congratulations to charter VIP Club restaurant, El Buen Cafe, Jesus #36, and owner/chef, Kris Rudolph for surviving 20 years here in San Miguel. Known for putting out a great tasting quality foods for breakfast, lunch and early dinner every day except Wednesdays. Celebrating, from December 16th through Deember 23, VIP Club members may take, not 10%, not 15%, not 20% but a whopping 30%. off their food bill at El Buen Cafe,. Kris shows her appreciation for the patronage provided by many over the years. Go in and say hi to our Kris, who just recovered from a life threatening situation!

Also El Buen Cafe will continue the grand tradition of being open Christmas Day, a Sunday, and will serve their standard yummy brunch from 11 - 2 pm. followed by El Buen's fabulous and perhaps more famous yuletide buffet, with one seating only, 3:30 pm! Menu: Turkey and dressing, Beef fillet with Cognac cream, Garlic mashed potatoes, Corn pudding, Sweet potatoes with toasted Pecans, Creamed spinach, Assorted salads and breads and a variety of desserts. VIP Club member and cook Gabriel Green, famous for recreating to-die-for dishes from her abuela's kitchen, has embarked on a new, food-service enterprise! It's Hierbabuena, in short, a mobile-operating food truck. We are posting Hierbabuena's webpage for this week's food truck around-town schedule and now one can hire their food truck for affairs along with their catering services for special events etc. VIP Club members get 10% off. Seems in our last VIP Club news flash we were shouting out how El Tomato, on Mesones, has long been a full menu restaurant rather than just veggie meals and has been consistantly serving Argentine cut meats, especially arranchara and rib eyes, along with pasta dishes with their other taste-good, healthy, feel-good dishes.

VIP Club member Leslie Cohen wants friends of Fred House who are planning to attend the celebration of Fred's life, Sunday, December 18th, at 2 pm, at the Longhorn Smokehouse BBQ, Salida a Celaya #6. Well Leslie needs folks to RSVP, so Longhorn will have an idea of how much food to have on hand. A donation of 50 pesos is being asked to cover botanas. Fred's friends have asked that friends please bring a tribute to share, such as a photo, a poem or a really good story! There will be a no-host bar for those who would like to raise a glass to Fred. Longhorn is normally closed on Sundays but Keith Thompson as agreed to open the restaurant for this event to honor Fred.
