Greetings:

We want to inform the membership we have been in daily phone contact with Gas Providencia. They are still bogged down in SMA bureaucracy. They remain frustrated and they assure customers their attorneys are aggressively pursuing the matter. The reasons they're told for being banned at the moment are vague and ambiguous at best.

Sr. Jesus Vazquez, owner/operator of Providencia and his attorney has asked our members to write a brief letter of recommendation and protest about them not being granted equal/commercial rights to customers here of which they insist they have all licenses and permits.

Send your letter of protest back to us here yet address your note to Sr. Jose Felipe Cohen Aguado and El Presidente Mauricio Trejo. Gas Providencia thanks you in advance.

We want to wish our members a Happy American Thanksgiving this Thursday, November 28. I sense that most of us have much to be thankful for.

Deborah at Moonrise Health, Organos #29 wants members to know that Moonrise will be open Thanksgiving Day!

As for entertainment, boy, we have heard from any of you and all are raving about the theatrical production "Spoon River!" Directed by theatre veteran Jim Newell, the cast of 10 men and women actors and two singers and guitarist reveal the town secrets of some 60 characters who speak from their graves to reflect on their former lives. The characters who speak their epitaphs represent almost every walk of life: there are scoundrels, lechers, idealists, scientists, politicians, a village doctor, a laundress, prostitutes, atheists and believers among them.

Bringing the characters to life are the actors Andrea Dovner, Clara Dunham, Rick Roberts, Bill Reiner, Henry Vermillion, Raquel Martin, Judy Newell, Peggy Powell, Michael Erickson, and Stan Gray. Jim Newell and musical director Kate Rowland provide the poignant and sometimes funny vocal background to the stories. The play runs Wed thru Sat at 7:00pm and Sunday at 5:00pm this week, Nov 27-Dec 1. Come and see this classic play with music at the Biblioteca's Teatro Santa Ana. Sounds like a thumbs up!

There's a jacket and sweater drive conducted by American Legion Vets. Call VIP Club member and Commander, Allan Gross at 152-0462. The give away is December 2 so help those who might be cold. It's just one way to get into the giving spirit.

Be careful out there. You know and I know and many of us know their are crimes being committed against some of our townspeople. Be alert! Be aware! Look out for each other! Take precautions. No need to panic but this is not Disneyland!

Lastly so glad to report that longtime friend and charter VIP Club member Joe Collerain is on the mend, given a clean bill of health and will be back in town. Welcome home, Baby!

R. I. P. Doris Tolpen
