VIP Club San Miguel began in 2000, inspired by the vision of longtime San Miguel de Allende resident Lou Christine. Lou saw an opportunity to address two pressing local needs: the rising cost of living for residents and the quieter weekdays and evenings for many local restaurants. With a concept that has worked in many other tourist towns, he created a membership program that brought value to both residents and businesses, offering discounts to restaurants around the city and service providers.
The concept took off and steadily grew over the years with an obvious blip during Covid years. What Lou started as a small idea soon expanded into a robust network of participating businesses, making a significant impact on the San Miguel community. VIP Club San Miguel formed partnerships with cornerstone services like BajioGo, the city’s most trusted transportation provider, and Gas Providencia, the top choice for propane services.
These collaborations further solidified the Clubâs reputation as an essential resource for San Miguel residents.
In 2023, after more than two decades of nurturing the VIP Club, Lou Christine faced health challenges. Recognizing the importance of ensuring his legacy continued, he entrusted the Club to his longtime friends, Anthony and Laura Dwyer. Having lived in San Miguel since the 1990s and early 2000s, respectively, Anthony and Laura share Lou’s deep love for the city and are committed to growing the VIP Club while maintaining its core mission.
The VIP Club is at present partnered with over 140 local restaurants and nearly 100 other businesses. It remains a trusted community staple, offering unparalleled discounts and fostering strong connections between residents and the businesses they love.
Beyond discounts, VIP Club San Miguel takes pride in its role as a community supporter. The Club actively promotes and contributes to nonprofit organizations, including Feed the Hungry and Caminos de Agua, underscoring its commitment to giving back to the city it calls home.
