Voters in states that require mail-in ballots should plan to have them voted and in transit to the U.S. by September 30th! Since the consular office in SMA is closed, we have a Community Liaison Volunteer that will be collecting ballots to be sent via DHL to the U.S. Embassy in Mexico City at our office at Ancha de San Antonio #19 on Wednesday, September 23rd and September 30th.
If you still have not requested your ballot as an overseas voter from the U.S., time is running out to do so. Go to https://www.votefromabroad.org to do so TODAY! And be sure to follow up with your local election official to be sure they received your request (their contact information will be on the form when you finish the ballot request) and will be emailing your ballot.
It’s been seven months now since the entire world has been living under this dark cloud. Here in San Miguel, so far, we have been fortunate not being ravished by the culprit, known as Covid-19. We have to credit the stringent measures employed by authorities and each other. Restraints on commerce are finally loosening some, but it is not by any means, a green light to let down our guard. Your Club contacted participating medical practitioner, Doctor Gordillo. The clinic, SMA Health Services, Libramiento #96, 415-152-2255, has been inundated with inquires about Flu shots.
Doctor Gordillo explained, despite negotiating through much red tape, SMA Health Services is eagerly awaiting their first shipment of Flu shots. Presently there is an extensive waiting list.
Gordillo reminded us, there are two types of Flu shots this year. One is “extra strength” and the other regular strength. “Extra Strength” is recommended for senior citizens. The orders, waited on by SMA Health Services, is “Extra Strength.”
