Daniel Lorenzetti, a long time VIP Club member, happened upon and found a wallet inside Fabrica Aurora! The wallet just happened to belong to one Marge Fahey, co-incidentally another long time VIP Club member! Neither know each other. Inside the wallet was Fahey's driver's license, her immigration permanente etc. etc. but nothing with her phone # on it. Yet she also was carrying her trusty VIP Club Card with the Club's phone # on it and Marge's anxiety was short lived as she recovered everything from Daniel that evening! Often, it pays in more than just saving money to be a VIP Club Card member.

Cash is king!
Mexico has been a cash-based society for decades, but that has started to change in recent years, especially with credit card companies offering points or miles for purchases. But it's important to understand how paying in cash can help small business and restaurant owners here in town. Let's say you use a $500 peso note to pay for your meal. The restaurant owner then uses that same bill to pay someone on their staff. They in turn use that bill to buy groceries at their local tienda. The tienda owner then uses that same bill to pay for school uniforms for his or her kids. And so on and so on... The value of that one $500 peso bill always remains $500 pesos. If you pay your bill with a credit card, the bank takes a 3.9% commission on the sale in most cases. So when you pay for a $500 peso meal using a card, what the restaurant owner is really getting is $480.50. If he then uses his credit card to pay a supplier, that $480.50 nets only $461.76. After 17 credit card transactions, that original $500 pesos is nearly half of what it was originally, with the bank(s) ending up with the rest. So please pay in cash whenever possible here. The following restaurants are a few who give 15% off when paying cash (there are more too! check the website for discounts). And if you do pay the bill with a credit card, please at least tip your hard-working server in cash (and use the pre-discounted amount to calculate the tip!)
